Associate Members have the right to use the post-nominal designation AMBCI.
AMBCI is a professional certified membership grade of the BCI which includes the grades: Fellow, Member, Specialist and Associate Member. These grades are all Statutory Members of the BCI and have the right to vote in elections for Board Directors, at the AGM and on those issues which the Board may wish to put to the membership.
Applicants for AMBCI* should be currently working in business continuity management for a minimum of one year** and have experience within the scope of the 6*** Certification Standards. Click this link to access the Business Continuity Competencies.

*** formerly 10 Certification Standards. The required skills from the 10 Certification Standards have been retained and mapped against stages of the BCM Lifecycle to ensure consistency of approach.
From 1st January 2008 it became necessary for all applicants for Associate Membership to hold the BCI Certificate (CBCI) before proceeding to membership.

Applicants to take the BCI Certificate and who wish to progress to AMBCI will need to supply the following:
Completed General Application Form containing contact details;
Declaration of Experience Form confirming the minimum level of practical experience as outlined above;
A comprehensive résumé/cv (curriculum vitae);
An indication of which grade they wish to be considered for;
2 referees;
A signed Code of Ethics;
Full payment for the examination
