Crisis Management
Tuesday 13th July , Leeds
“Previewing PAS200 and exploring what makes an effective crisis management capability”
How do you rate the organisation by which you are employed? Are they “crisis aware” or “crisis prone”? Do you have a formal model that defines your crisis management capability, and a process that enables you to develop and refine the related management structures and support mechanisms?
Every organisation will, at some time, be faced with the need to respond to events that threaten to overwhelm them. Well structured contingency plans will provide only part of the response, think of Toyota as an example, and the ability of senior management to move from business as usual to quick time decision making. These may be the difference between survival and disaster.
For the past eighteen months a BSI working group has been engaged in developing strategic guidance, designated PAS200, in exactly these areas of preparing for and responding to crises. The BCI has supported the development of PAS200 from its inception, through the current period of public review and to publication that is scheduled for the middle of this year.
To mark the imminent release of PAS200, we shall be previewing this new guidance at the Crisis Management Workshop on Tuesday 13th July, in Leeds.
The morning session will provide a detailed understanding of the principles and practice that are the basis of PAS200. During the afternoon we will further explore the ideas from PAS200 by putting delegates under some gentle pressure in a specially designed table-top exercise. There will be opportunity to discuss PAS200 with the people involved in its development and to exchange ideas and experience of the challenges of effective crisis management whilst working with fellow delegates.
