ICT Resilience Workshop: “Aligning ICT Continuity with Corporate BCM”

Manchester, 21st February 2008

Whichever way you look at it, IT and communications are central to all our operations and loom large in what we aim to deliver as BCM professionals.  For this reason we have, during the past few weeks, been finding out from BCI Members what they view as the key issues in the area of ICT Resilience.  The results have been very interesting and the results will shortly be uploaded to the BCI website.

With grateful thanks to the Members who responded and with the help of a small planning group we have now drafted a programme for the ICT Resilience Workshop that is scheduled for the 21 st February in Manchester, described below.

Aligning ICT Continuity with Corporate BCM

The Workshop programme will include case studies, discussion exercises and the opportunity for networking with your fellow BC professionals.  Amongst the specific topics to be addressed will be …

  • Standards and Guidelines for ICT continuity: including a first detailed look at BS25777.
  • Establishing ICT and BCM Priorities: whose role is it; and where does responsibility lie?
  • The human dimension in ICT continuity; and the challenge of rapid technology change.
  • The Dragon’s Challenge … a participative exercise in ICT continuity planning.

As with all BCI Workshops, attendance will be capped in order to maximize the effectiveness of the discussion exercises and for this reason you might want to consider reserving your place as soon as possible.

Attendance at the ICT Resilience Workshop is open to all BCI Members and employees of organisations that have joined the BCI via the Partnership Programme.  The fee for BCI Members and Partners is just £295 (+ VAT); non-members pay £395 (+ VAT). Early Bird Members and Partners who book their place before the end of January will pay £245 (+VAT) – saving £50 on the usual rate.

Full details of the programme will be available towards the latter part of January, but to book now and guarantee your place, click here

ICT Resilience Special Interest Group (SIG)

A key objective for the BCI in 2008 is to establish a number of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that will provide both networking and educational benefits to both Members and Partners.  One of the first SIGs is specifically oriented to IT, communications and information assurance – the ICT Resilience SIG – and this group will be formally launched at the Workshop on 21st February.

We shall be looking to elect an Advisory Panel to provide guidance and direction in respect of future topics for ICT Continuity workshops and to lead the electronic discussion group provided via the SIG.  If you believe that you have something to contribute to the Advisory Panel for the ICT Continuity SIG then please send an email to david.lloyd@thebci.org … we will let you know what is involved and how the Advisory Panel will be selected.
