| Membership
Membership of the BCI is open to individual business continuity practitioners at all levels of experience. All members of the BCI and holders of the CBCI credential are required to operate to the Institute’s Code of Practice and Ethics.
There are 2 membership groupings:
Professional certified membership which includes the grades: Fellow, Member, Specialist and Associate Member. These grades are all Statutory Members of the BCI and have the right to vote in elections for Board Directors, at the AGM and on those issues which the Board may wish to put to the membership.
Non-certified membership which includes the grades: Affiliate and Student. Affiliate membership is often taken by those very new to the profession who don’t yet have the experience to apply for professional membership. It is an excellent introduction to the BCI and helps individuals support the aims of the BCI.
In addition to the above categories, the Board of the BCI may award, from time to time Honorary Membership or Fellowship to those who have contributed outstanding service to the practice of business continuity management or to the Institute.
Credential Holders:
Those candidates who successfully pass the BCI Certificate are entitles to use the post-nominal credential of CBCI – they are not members of the Business Continuity Institute but are expected to uphold the Code of Practice and Ethics.
CBCIs will have the opportunity to be placed on a register of those holding this credential (an annual fee is payable). They will also be invited to apply for professional membership of the Business Continuity Institute if they are able to demonstrate sufficient practical application of their knowledge.
Partnership through the BCI Partnership:
The BCI Partnership was launched in October 2007, enabling the BCI to work with organisations to raise the profile of business continuity management (BCM) as a discipline and to promote corporate excellence in the delivery of BCM.
The BCI Partnership offers two types of Partnership:
Industry Partners within the BCI Partnership are likely to be those companies that make or deliver BCM products and services and who wish to have an opportunity to network with existing and potential clients and to showcase their products and services. http://www.thebci.org/IndustryPartnerApplication.pdf
Corporate Partners are organisations that practice BCM and aim to achieve the highest standards of BCM practice by appointing qualified BCM practitioners and/or Consultants where possible and/or encouraging existing staff to become certified. http://www.thebci.org/CorporatePartnership.pdf
