Is BS 25999 Working for You?
Reading, Berkshire, UK
Thursday 15th May, 2008
Why have you decided to work with BS25999? Is it the mountaineer’s answer: because it’s there? Or were you required to justify, in detail, the benefits that your organisation will derive from pursuing conformance to this increasingly well-accepted standard? How does your experience of BS 25999 compare with that of other BCI Members?
Or, are you still undecided about BS25999? Do you have unresolved concerns about working with the Standard? Is it possible that a discussion with BCM managers from other organisations might provide a fresh perspective on the value of BS25999?
“Is BS 25999 Working for You” is a BCI Workshop developed as part of the new programme of events designed to meet the needs of Members by providing both authoritative presentations and the opportunity for extended discussions with other BCM professionals. BCI Members played a key part in the development of BS25999 and so this opportunity to exchange views and experiences – the good and the challenging – should add to our understanding of the Standard as it becomes widely adopted. Perhaps each of us will be enabled to improve the ways in which we approach some of the more demanding aspects of implementation or the on-going processes of review and improvement?
The Workshop is scheduled for Thursday 15th May in Reading, which provides easy access from most parts of the UK; and with flights to nearby Heathrow for those from outside the UK. The programme commences at 09:30 with registration from 09:00; and we aim to finish at 16:30.
The Workshop programme is being developed as three sessions ...
• BS 25999 in Perspective: background to the Standard; how and why we are using it; where BS25999 fits in the bigger picture of BCM.
• Certification: reflecting the high level of interest in certification we will look at the role of certification bodies and explain the value and importance of accredited certification. We will explore the on-going commitment that follows certification and look at the preparations required prior to formal assessment.
• Where next for BS25999? We will learn about the current priorities for the BSI technical committee and, working together, begin to identify the improvements and additions that we would like to recommend as adding value to the Standard.
The programme includes a number of end-user case studies and, as with all BCI Workshops, extended group discussions providing excellent opportunities to seek answers to specific individual concerns.
The cost of attending this BCI Workshop is just £295 (plus VAT) for BCI Members and employees of BCI Partners.
Non-members pay £395 (plus VAT) and this includes an offer of 12 months BCI Affiliate Membership in order to provide access to the conference materials and the on-line Special Interest Groups on the BCI web-site after the Workshop ... and Member rates for attendance at all BCI Workshops during 2008.
