BCI Atlantic forum event - January 2018
On January 23, 2018 the BCI held the second Atlantic BCI Forum led by BCI associate members Tor Fosnæs and Pat Curran. The event was hosted by the St. John’s International Airport Authority. A number of BC and emergency management professional were in attendance, including representatives from the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, the cities of St. John’s and Mount Pearl and the Town of Holyrood, along with the St. John’s Airport Authority.
The Forum featured a discussion on the relationship between Canada’s Federal – Provincial – Territorial Emergency Management Framework and continuity. BCI associate members Tor Fosnæs and Pat Curran provided an overview of a recent paper they prepared on the Framework, suggesting that it did not adequately address continuity as a critical aspect of Emergency Management. The Forum also featured a presentation by the BCI’s Gianluca Rigietti on the recent BCI Emergency Communications Report. His slides can be viewed below.
The forum concluded with an open discussion and there was a consensus that similar sessions should be held in the future.
The BCI wishes to thank associates Tor Fosnæs and Pat Curran for convening the Forum, the St. John’s International Airport Authority for agreeing to host and all who attended.
