So, the first week of the BCI’s webinar series is complete. Each day saw professionals from around the world discussing some of the issues they are facing day to day in their organizations, sharing ideas, and asking each other what their organizations were doing in certain situations.

The subsequent WhatsApp group discussions have also been buzzing throughout the week.

Here are some of the key topics that came up this week:

  • How BC professionals are under pressure like never before and how personal resilience will be key as this crisis develops.
  • Organizations are making good use of platforms such as ‘Teams’, not only for work related purposes but also for virtual coffee breaks to try and combat isolation of staff.
  • Strong leadership and good communication from C-Suite is key and that BC will be on their agenda from now on.
  • Documenting all decisions during Covid-19 is crucial for future learnings and in case any decisions need to be justified later.
  • Challenges around working from home including equipment and security concerns.
  • IT challenges around outsourced suppliers and not being able to access suppliers outside countries.
  • How different organizations are using different tactics for their crisis management teams.
  • BC teams unable to take annual leave due to the pandemic, however this means these critical roles will accrue a lot of holiday to take later in the year
  • Difficulties managing communications between countries with different governmental advice for the pandemic as employees were sharing information not applicable to another’s country

Places are still available for next week’s webinars, including Monday, see all dates here.
