In light of the recent passing of James Lodge, who was set to join the BCI Global Board at our meeting yesterday (29th April 2025), the Board decided on the best course of action within the governance rules of the Institute.

After thorough deliberation, the board considered three options: inviting the runner-up in the election to assume the vacant seat; holding another election within the next 6 to 8 weeks; or leaving the seat vacant until the next scheduled election in October/November 2025.

To respect James and his contributions, the Board has decided to leave the seat vacant until the next scheduled election. As a result, there will now be three vacant seats to be decided at the end of this year.

Glen Redstall, BCI Global Board Chair, commented, "James' dedication and impact on our community were profound. We believe that leaving the seat vacant until the next election is the most respectful way to honour his legacy."

We appreciate your understanding and support during this period.
