The penultimate day of BCAW+R 2025 featured a series of webinars focused on embracing operational resilience through AI. The programme offered a mix of theory and practical guidance from experienced practitioners, showing how organizations can apply AI-driven strategies to strengthen resilience while addressing the risks involved. Sessions included real-world case studies, ethical considerations, and practical guidance.

Session highlights

The day kicked off with a webinar examining how AI systems can support modern crisis management through innovative applications, such as real-time prediction and decision support, across various sectors and industries, and discussed the challenges AI presents in high-pressure situations. Following this, a session on generative AI, which many organizations already use, led participants through its significant benefits and identified the risks involved. Risk mitigation suggestions included conducting an AI usage audit and defining a clear principle-based policy that can adapt to change without stifling creativity.

The afternoon’s first webinar focused on technology-driven resilience and its role in effectively managing disruptions. It offered a comparative look at how the use of technology in this space has progressed over recent years, including its growing integration into legislation and regulatory frameworks. The discussion highlighted the shift from reactive to proactive approaches, enabled by smarter tools and systems.

A thoughtful webinar followed examining how AI analysis and automation is changing how organizations build and maintain their resilience. This session considered the benefits of AI integration and highlighted how AI can bring not only improved resilience strategies and responses but an advantage over competitors.

The day concluded with a comprehensive session on finding the right balance between innovation and resilience, a subject that many practitioners are currently grappling with. Experts examined AI-driven solutions that enhance operational resilience across industries and the challenges they pose - using real world case studies. A considered discussion on the key regulatory frameworks that practitioners can use to create policies and best practices wrapped up the session.

Join us for the final day of BCAW+R and get involved in the scenario-based exercise ‘Exercise Prometheus’. This interactive session compares the incident management skills and performance of a traditional in-house business continuity team with that of AI. Both human and AI teams will be put through the same crisis exercise and their responses analysed side by side to understand where AI performs well, where it falls short, and how it could be integrated into existing crisis management plans.
