BCI Board Nominee Spotlight: Atiq Bajwa FBCI
About the nominee
I am Chief Risk Officer at Sulaiman Alrajhi Holding and founder of DERISKED, with a 33-year career building resilience at organizations including SABIC, Marafiq, Ma’aden and Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI).
My career spans high-risk sectors across the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East, giving me a practical understanding of global resilience challenges and strategic governance.
I am an FBCI and a Certified Board Director, and DRI International named me GCC Top BCM Professional of the Year for 2025. I served as an Honorary Judge for the 2025 BCI Awards. I have championed our profession through chapter community events and seven speaking engagements in the last 12 months. I am standing to help shape the BCI’s future.
Prior board or governance experience
My governance experience comes from senior executive roles that work directly with boards and board committees, supported by formal director training.
As Chief Risk Officer of Sulaiman AlRajhi Holding, I work with the Audit Committee on enterprise risk, business continuity, crisis management and internal controls. In June 2026 the Audit Committee endorsed the group Risk Appetite Statement I developed.
In my earlier roles at SABIC, Ma’aden, Marafiq and Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI), I interacted regularly with boards and board committees on risk and resilience matters.
Why serve on the BCI board?
My desire to serve stems from a profound belief in the critical importance of organizational resilience. I am equally committed to the BCI’s mission of advancing our profession globally.
My active involvement as Leader of the BCI Saudi Arabia Chapter since its launch in 2024 and as an Honorary Judge for the 2025 BCI Awards has given me a front-line perspective on the challenges and opportunities we face. I have seen firsthand the growing demand for robust resilience practices and the BCI’s pivotal role in meeting it.
I want to contribute my regional experience and C-suite perspective to the Board. My goal is to help steer the BCI towards greater global impact, ensuring we continue to empower professionals and build a more resilient world.
What skills and experience do you bring to the BCI Board?
As a Fellow of the BCI (FBCI), I have a long record of commitment and continuous development as a resilience professional.
Over a 33-year career I have built C-suite leadership, financial and governance depth, and a global view of organizational resilience. My practice is backed by CBCP, OCEG GRC Professional (GRCP) and ISO Lead Implementer and Lead Auditor credentials across seven ISO standards, including ISO 22301.
As Chief Risk Officer (CRO) for Sulaiman AlRajhi Holding (SRH), a Waqf-owned diversified group in Saudi Arabia with subsidiaries in poultry, cement, IT services, real estate, agriculture and financial investments, I provide enterprise-wide leadership in risk and resilience, directly contributing to strategic decision-making at the highest level. My role entails managing multi-million-dollar budgets, demonstrating strong financial stewardship and a results-oriented approach to resource allocation.
DERISKED, which is a PECB-accredited risk, resilience and governance training and advisory firm based in Riyadh, keeps me close to practitioners and to know how professionals across the region learn and grow. I have held key roles in major Saudi organizations across multiple industries.
I offer a rare combination of global executive leadership and a proven commitment to growing our BCI community.
