About the nominee

I am a Fellow of the BCI and an experienced business continuity professional, currently responsible for business continuity management across DHL Supply Chain UK & Ireland.

My career has focused on turning continuity and resilience principles into practical capability, connecting strategy, professional standards and governance with what organizations and their people actually need when disruption occurs. My current work encompasses BCM governance, ISO 22301 alignment, cyber preparedness, training, exercising, scenario planning and resilience capability development.

My connection with the BCI extends well beyond professional membership. I recently completed six years as Chair of the BCI North East England Chapter and continue to mentor people in both the BCI community and my workplace.

I am standing for election because I want to continue giving something back to a profession and Institute that have been an important part of my professional life.

I would bring the perspective of a practising resilience professional, long-standing BCI volunteer, Chapter leader and mentor, with a strong belief that the Institute should combine global thought leadership with the practical realities facing members.

Prior board or governance experience

I was the Vice Chair of the South Yorkshire Police Sports and Social Club for 15 years. I was also the Chair of the board of governors for a primary school and a high school for 15 years. I recently completed six years as Chair of the BCI North East England Chapter. This provided sustained experience of leadership within a professional membership community and of supporting member engagement and knowledge sharing.

My professional role also gives me considerable exposure to structured governance and assurance. Within DHL Supply Chain UK & Ireland, my work includes ISO 22301 alignment, BCM audit and assurance activity, compliance oversight, stakeholder engagement and structured development of the BC champion community. My documented 2026 BCM objectives include applying ISO 22301 standards across sites, developing training initiatives, engaging the BC champion network and ensuring standards are sustainable, compliant and appropriately documented.

I also participate in DHL's recurring Monthly Global BCM Leadership Call, providing exposure to BCM leadership discussions in a multinational operational environment.

Together, these experiences have given me an appreciation of the distinction between operational management and governance: providing constructive challenges, considering the longer-term interests of an organization and its stakeholders, and ensuring that strategic decisions remain connected to the people they affect.

Why serve on the BCI board?

I want to serve as a BCI Board director because I believe strongly in the value of our professional community and want to help shape its future.

After six years as a BCI Chapter Chair, I understand the importance of members, Chapters and volunteers in sustaining a relevant, connected and genuinely global professional Institute. I would bring that member-focused perspective to Board discussions.

I also bring the perspective of a practising BCM professional working within a complex global organization, where cyber, climate, technology and supply-chain risks must be translated into practical preparedness. My current work encompasses operational resilience, ISO 22301, exercising, training, scenario planning and cyber preparedness.

If elected, I want to strengthen engagement with members and Chapters, support the development of the next generation of practitioners, champion mentoring and help ensure that BCI research and professional good practice remain connected to operational reality.

Most importantly, I would listen to members and bring their practitioner perspective into discussions about the strategic direction and future of our Institute.
