We are delighted to introduce the winner of the 2025 BCI Lifetime Achievement Award: David Window. This award recognises an individual whose sustained contributions have shaped the resilience profession and inspired global progress.

David was nominated by Margaret Millett Hon FBCI and chosen by a panel of experienced judges at BCI World Hybrid 2025’s annual conference for this prestigious accolade.

With 18 years as a BCI member, and over 21 years of business continuity industry experience, he has also mentored multiple people, published articles, been involved in thought leadership, and supported the development of the BCI and industry.

As one of the judges said: ‘This nomination covers 21 years of varied accomplishments. In addition to day job successes, the array of distinct contributions is impressive, including standards development, numerous conference presentations, Good Practice Guide contributions, article writing, teaching and more. This glowing testimonial highlights several contributions, any one of which would be sufficient to support the nomination... and highlights contributions in Asia, adding a valuable global perspective to the strength of the nomination.’

The judges felt that David’s expertise transcends operational excellence; being a visionary who has shaped the narrative around resilience. Notably, his risk assessed total cost of operations (RATCO) concept has introduced groundbreaking approaches to supply chain resilience, addressing vulnerabilities in single points of failure and enhancing global awareness. His thought leadership extends beyond theoretical frameworks, offering practical solutions that drive measurable results for organizations worldwide.

From a global perspective, through GRCCS, the BCI’s Licensed Training Partner in Malaysia, David has also delivered BCI-certified training courses, including CBCI certification programs, which have helped build a strong pipeline of qualified professionals across Malaysia and the wider Asian region.

He has attended and supported conferences in Shanghai—most notably around 2015–2016—demonstrating his commitment to spreading best practices across Greater China and the Asia-Pacific region. He has also conducted training in Saudi Arabia, Zambia, and Egypt between 2015 and 2020, and most recently in Panama, without charging speaking fees.

The judges found that David is a respected leader in the field of business continuity and is highly regarded by his peers in the BCI. ‘Based on the evidence presented,’ said the judges, ‘David is deserving of the Lifetime Achievement Award.’
