Scott Carver, AFBCI, CBCI (Merit), is a Business Continuity Management and Crisis Communications/ Media Management advisor and practitioner to global and national corporations. Educated by the Business Continuity Institute, Emergency Planning Society and International Consortium for Organisational Resilience, Scott works with Public & Private sector organisations to analyse, design, implement, validate and embed Business Continuity Management programmes ensuring they are best prepared ahead of Major Incidents occurring.

Stephen Nuttall FBCI MBA

Stephen Nuttall is a Fellow of the BCI, having been a member since 2000, and is also a BCI approved trainer and a certified ISO22301 lead auditor. Stephen is a former CIR BC Industry Personality of the Year and he is currently the Chair of the BCI’s North West (England) Forum. Stephen holds a post-graduate certificate in Management Coaching and is an approved BCI mentor. 

David Window Hon FBCI

David Window has been one of our trainers for nearly ten years. His classes regularly achieve exceptional pass rates for the Business Continuity Institute’s Good Practice Guidelines modules courses. His working background covers both the public and private sectors, and he has international experience working in West Africa, Eastern Europe and Australia.  His career has primarily been in the utilities industry, within which he became a graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) and a certificated member of the Institute of Risk Management (CIRM), and an Honorary Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute (Hon FBCI). 

Simon Langdon MBCI

Simon is an acknowledged authority on business continuity and specialises in crisis and incident management. He has experience of developing, implementing, and training crisis and incident management in large multi-site organisations both nationally and internationally. Simon has a background of an Army career to rank of Lieutenant Colonel with experience of anti-terrorist operations. He is co-founder and coordinator of Resilience in Design round-table discussions where leading organisations from different business sectors discuss and develop resilience matters. He is a former winner of the Business Continuity Consultant of the Year.

Mike Balmer MBCI

After a 21-year career in the British Royal Air Force, Mike became a recognised expert in managing high-value projects and programmes up to US $100 million. His core focus has been on operational resilience, risk management, and business continuity. He has held strategic roles across sectors including aerospace, oil & gas, energy, utilities, government, military, and banking—further refining his programme, stakeholder, and change management expertise.

Alongside consultancy work, Mike is a respected coach, mentor, and trainer in programme management, business transformation, and resilience. He trains for BCS, BCI, and BSI, with clients such as Prudential, RBS, Pinkerton (Royal Commission Jubail), Eurocopter UK, GE Africa, Shell (Iraq & Dubai), Occidental (Oman & Bahrain), Terraseis (Afghanistan), IBM India, G4S, Credit Suisse, eBay China, and DHL.

Penny Killow MBCI

Penny is a highly respected Business Continuity and Operational Resilience leader with over 25 years’ experience shaping resilience strategy, governance across manufacturing, petrochemical, global financial services, and professional services organisations.

She spent more than a decade at Moody’s, where she held senior leadership roles driving enterprise-wide Business Continuity, Operational Resilience, and Crisis Readiness and Response across international operations. Her earlier career spans multiple major organisations dating back to 1997, giving her a uniquely broad perspective on resilience maturity, organisational culture, and the evolution of disaster recovery and continuity practices across industries.

Penny is passionate about ensuring organisations and the employees are genuinely prepared, not just compliant. She is known for her clear, pragmatic approach relationship management and her ability to translate regulatory expectations into practical, actionable frameworks that support confident decision-making under pressure. Throughout her career, she has supported executive-level crisis teams, led global programme transformation, and championed cross-functional accountability for resilience.

As one of Continuity Shop’s Business Continuity Institute approved Tutors, she delivers both public and in-house training. Her teaching style is grounded in real-world experience, regulatory insight, and a commitment to building capability that lasts.

Thomas Croall Exec MBA, MBCI, MEPS, SIRM, CISMP, Cert CII

Thomas is an award-winning resilience and risk professional with over 18 years’ experience delivering resilience, crisis management, and risk programmes across financial services, government, technology, and critical infrastructure.

He has held senior roles including Head of Business Continuity at Atos, leading enterprise-wide resilience across UK and Indian operations, achieving ISO 22301 certification and supporting major government and financial services clients. His earlier career spans organisations such as Tesco Bank, Skyscanner, Network Rail, HSBC, and Manchester City Council.

More recently, Thomas has supported central government, Tier One financial institutions, a central bank, an asset manager, a global fintech, and a FTSE 250 house builder, as well as national UK rail programmes and multi-agency resilience partnerships. His work focuses on governance, impact tolerances, and ensuring frameworks are practical and usable in real-world disruption.

He specialises in UK and European legal & regulatory requirements, including FCA, PRA, CCA and DORA, and supports senior leadership in strengthening accountability and decision-making under pressure.

Thomas co-authored the UK Rail Resilience Review and contributed to UK rail emergency management codes of practice. He is an ISO 22301 Lead Auditor and BCI-approved instructor.
