More than two years after the BCI GPG 7.0 arrived, students worldwide are still studying it—and some are even enjoying the experience!

Is there a secret to getting the best out of the GPG? Possibly.... But in reality, and with expert guidance, it needs the student to apply themselves to understand just what the GPG is trying to do and how best to implement a robust, pragmatic and resilient BCMS.

Of course, all LTPs work hard to bring the GPG to life and to help students by sharing real life expertise and knowledge to really start the discussion about what makes a resilient organisation. Having spent decades training many of today’s professionals and, hopefully, quite a few of tomorrow’s leaders in the art and science of BC and resilience, we are often asked just where to start in what, to people new to BC, can be a daunting and often scary process.

We are going to stand on a ‘soap-box’ and tell you a secret: Validation!

Why validation? Because validating what you already have in place; where the gaps are; what you might need in your policy and scope; how well, (or not), you have embraced BC into your organisation; what solutions you may already have in place; and where there may be opportunities for new solutions is what BCM is all about.

In short, Validation can help to tell you and your organisation’s management to understand where you are; where you might need to go; how well prepared you are; and be an opportunity to enhance your training and awareness at the same time.

If it could brew tea as well, it would be perfect….!
