The BCI would like to extend a warm welcome to Anoushka Chati (CBCI) and Geneva Sitzer (CBCI) who have joined the Women in Resilience Special Interest Group (WiR SIG) committee.

Anoushka is an operational resilience analyst with global NGO volunteer experience and Geneva is a risk coordinator with a background in disaster management and health & safety. Their combined wealth of experience, enthusiasm, and specialist skills will undoubtedly enhance the WiR group's capabilities. Welcome Anoushka and Geneva.

Motivations: Why join the committee?

Anoushka was motivated to join the committee after experiencing a WiR SIG event first hand and appreciating the honesty and relevance of the discussions. After benefiting from female mentors during her career to date she hopes to ‘pay it forward’ and support women in male-dominated industries such as technology and financial services.

Geneva was drawn to the group because she believes in the importance of creating spaces where women can connect, share experiences, and celebrate each other. She said: ‘I’m excited to use that ‘Gen-Z energy’ to help shape meaningful conversations, build connections, and inclusive spaces to support women at all stages of their careers’ and hopes her firsthand experiences with digital platforms will spotlight important messages that drive positive change.

Promoting engagement and support

Bringing together professionals who might otherwise not have the chance to share their experiences or challenges through events, conversations, or mentoring is a driving force for Geneva, and Anoushka said ‘The WiR SIG creates room for women’s voices to shape how resilience is understood and practised’. She’s keen to support the group’s commitment to making a difference through open knowledge sharing and providing space for conversations that challenges assumptions and helps sharpen understanding about key concepts.

Future vision

Anoushka’s long-term goals for the WiR SIG are to continue its trusted support system that helps women navigate their careers in the resilience and continuity space, and to help it evolve into a platform where women can soundboard their new ideas and initiatives in a safe space. Geneva echoes this approach and is keen to build a strong, inclusive community where women across all levels of experience feel seen, supported, and empowered to lead. She also hopes to influence and strengthen the visibility of women driving resilience across Southern Africa, and the broader African region, where many women professionals often face additional barriers such as under-representation in leadership roles and limited access to mentoring and networks.

New members are always welcome to join the WiR SIG here or contact the group on Linkedin.
