Mike Kwong Chi Chan

Mike has an impressive career spanning over 25 years in banking and Big 4 experience, specializing in auditing, risk management, fraud control, and governance. Following business and economics studies in Canada, he began his career with Arthur Andersen and PwC in business assurance and later held senior roles across top-tier financial institutions in Hong Kong, focusing on auditing and risk management. For 14 years, Mike served CMB Wing Lung Bank, a member of China Merchants Bank, holding key leadership positions, including Fraud Control Officer and General Manager of the Operational Risk Management Department. In these roles, he developed and led enterprise-wide operational resilience and control frameworks covering operational resilience, business continuity/disaster recovery (BC/DR) planning, operational risk assessment and governance, incident and crisis management, third-party risk management, Basel operational risk implementation, and ESG-related risk oversight. His portfolio also included fraud control and investigation, including risk assessment for new products and services, such as FinTech initiatives, cross-boundary wealth management and Stock Connect, green finance, and FPS.
Since August 2025, Mike has joined Hong Kong Metropolitan University as a senior lecturer. He teaches corporate governance, finance, and accounting disciplines across different academic levels, while continuing to promote professional collaboration among peers, regulators, law-enforcement agencies, professional bodies, and universities.
Mike is a fellow member of the accountancy bodies of Australia and Hong Kong, and is a governance professional of the UK & Ireland and Hong Kong. e has pursued further professional qualifications across project management (US), quality control (US), operational risk and resilience (UK & Hong Kong), business continuity management (UK), information security (US), and climate risk management (Hong Kong).
