Does Microsoft have your back(up)? Make sure that you are protecting the right data, in the right place
Tuesday 5th November, 14:00-14:30

Presented by: Michele Domanico, Systems Engineer, Veeam

Michele Domanico Veeam Presenter.jpg

Microsoft Office 365 is delivering huge productivity gains through enabling organisations to work anywhere, anytime without the need to host email, files and content management infrastructure. But even though Microsoft hosts the infrastructure, this doesn’t replace your responsibility to maintain a backup of your business-critical data.

With Office 365, it’s your data — you control it — and it is your responsibility to protect it. In this presentation, find out how to remain in complete control, with your data always protected and accessible.

Daisy’s eBackup for Microsoft Office 365, uses Veeam technology to eliminate the risk of losing access to your Office 365 data, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business.

The session today covers how easy it is to securely back up Office 365 in a fast and simple way:

• Protect your Office 365 data from accidental deletion, security threats and retention policy gaps
• Quickly restore individual Office 365 items and files with industry-leading recovery flexibility
• Meet legal and compliance requirements with efficient eDiscovery of Office 365 backup data

Whether you are migrating to Office 365 or have a blend of On-Premises and Office 365 users, this session will help you understand how to protect and manage your business-critical data.

The Anatomy of a Real-Life Incident: Wednesday 6 November, 11:30AM

Forget the theory for 30 minutes, and live through a major disruption from the safety of the audience!
Presented by Julie Goddard MBCI

Julie Goddard MBCI.PNG

More than 15 years on the front line of business continuity management (BCM) has dealt me far more than my fair share of disruption. From the more commonplace IT failures, the unpredictability of cyberattacks, the unusual with blown-over lorries, the bizarre with satellites lost in space and unfortunately, to the most grave, with terrorist activity.

In this session, I will walk you through a real-life incident response, complete with its unexpected serious twists - and some more humorous turns.

To keep the takeaway learnings clear, I have chosen a relatively simple incident, and one where the response touched on many aspects of business continuity - including those subject areas which are crucial to plan for and form the staple of courses, standards and conferences, but which we don’t often get to put into practice in real situations!
In detailing the business continuity response from start to finish, this session delivers a great example of how an incident develops, giving you the chance to consider what you would have done in the same situation as the events unfold. The key takeaway messages are around the human aspects of a response and how, despite the many physical and technical challenges that the incident may present, it’s the people who make the response a success.

This session is suitable for anyone involved in ensuring business continuity and resilience, or those responsible for the business and looking to understand the mechanics of a major disruption.

Julie Goddard MBCI Biography

Julie Goddard MBCI.PNG

Julie Goddard is a highly experienced Resilience & Continuity Manager, with over 15 years experience in the profession, and is a member (MBCI) of the Business Continuity Institute. For several years prior to that, she was an IT Service Manager, and is ITIL trained.

As Business Continuity lead, Julie has implemented Business Continuity & Resilience across multiple sectors such as food and drink, financial & information services, public sector and regulatory bodies. This has involved the entire BC lifecyle, ensuring it is appropriate and fit for purpose according to each individual organisation’s needs. Food and drink resilience is a world away from financial services!

She has also operated within a multi-agency response environment, including arranging counter-terrorism training and trauma training for hundreds of staff and management.  She is currently an ‘industry Sector Leader’ on the ‘Cross-Sector Safety and Security Communications’ (CSSC) hub.

Her key strengths lie in orchestrating collaborative working between all levels of the business, and support functions who will be operational expert advisors during an incident. This starts with strategic planning with senior management to agree the most appropriate approach, all the way through to plan development and extensive exercising and rehearsing of staff and teams.

Last but not least, she has lead many real life incidents, from the more commonplace such as supply chain issues and IT failures, to the unpredictability of cyber attacks, to the unusual with blown-over lorries and the bizarre with satellites lost in space, to the most grave, involving terrorist activity. She has also been involved in food supply chain issues, serious animal disease (Foot & Mouth) and human pandemic planning and response.

Julie believes that the most important aspect of resilience and continuity is the human factor: senior managers, staff, suppliers, stakeholders and customers. “Without their involvement and cooperation, your resilience and continuity capability is valueless”.
