Christopher Horne FBCI appointed as new Vice Chair of the BCI

We are pleased to announce that Christopher Horne FBCI, has been appointed as the new Vice Chair of the BCI.

Most recently, Chris was elected as a member of the BCI Board in February of 2018. He originally joined the BCI in 2005 as an Associate (ABCI) before becoming a Member (MBCI) in 2006 and a Fellow (FBCI) in 2017. Throughout his career Chris has been an active volunteer with the BCI in Canada and over the years has held various positions including: Chapter Communications Coordinator and active President as well as previously been the leader of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) forum.

 

Chris has over 15 years’ Business Continuity experience working in the retail, energy, banking, financial services and insurance industries. He has been in progressive positions responsible for supporting large scale organizations for Canadian, North American and International Business Continuity programs. In 2015, Chris led a large Canadian financial services organization’s efforts to align its Business Continuity program to the ISO standard for Business Continuity Management Systems (ISO 22301:2012) which culminated in the company's certification to the standard. In his current role Chris is responsible for the design and implementation of the Business Continuity Management (BCM) Framework at Great-West Lifeco Inc.

 

Commenting on his new position, Chris said: “It is an exciting time for the BCI with the upcoming 25th anniversary and as the institute continues to evolve its communities, professional development and training. Recent examples being the new Good Practice Guidelines, Continuity & Resilience Magazine, as well as expanding research and planned academic contributions. All of these initiatives benefiting our diverse membership and the industry. I am very honoured and look forward to this opportunity to contribute to the BCI in this Vice Chair role for the next two years.”
