Sponsor Spotlight: Wavenet

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your organization?
I’m Martin Lewis, Head of Business Continuity Sales at Wavenet. I’ve spent over 20 years working in business continuity and resilience, and during that time, I’ve seen just how vital these solutions are in helping organizations navigate uncertainty. At Wavenet, we’re a UK-based managed service provider, and we support businesses of all sizes with secure, scalable, and resilient technology solutions. Ultimately, our aim is simple: to help organizations stay connected, protected, and operational, whatever challenges come their way.
What motivated you to become a BCI Corporate Sponsor?
The BCI plays such an important role in the global resilience community, so getting more involved just made sense. For us, it’s about connecting with like-minded professionals, learning from the wider community, and contributing to the ongoing development of best practice and innovation in business continuity. Sponsorship gives us the chance to do all of that, and more.
Can you share some of the values and goals that drive Wavenet?
Resilience, trust, innovation, and a real focus on the customer are at the heart of everything we do. We don’t just want to be a technology supplier, we want to be a partner our customers can rely on. Whether it’s supporting recovery, reducing risk, or helping businesses plan for the future, we aim to deliver solutions that are tailored to the real-world needs of each organization. That might mean working through one of our business continuity consultants, or delivering services like data protection, disaster recovery, or Work Area Recovery, it’s all about keeping things running.
How does Wavenet’s mission align with the BCI?
We’re both working toward the same goal: helping organizations build resilience and prepare for disruption. For us, resilience isn’t just about systems and processes; it’s a mindset and a long-term commitment. The BCI’s work in promoting that way of thinking aligns perfectly with what we do, and being part of this community helps us stay connected to what’s really important in the field.
What do you hope to achieve through the BCI Corporate Sponsorship?
We’re looking forward to deeper collaboration with the BCI community. Whether that’s through sharing insights, attending events, or supporting fellow professionals, we want to play an active role. We also hope to shine a light on the role technology plays in continuity and encourage more conversation around future-ready strategies. There’s so much we can learn from each other.
Can you share a success story you're particularly proud of?
A standout moment for us was in March 2023, during what became our largest Work Area Recovery mobilisation to date. Late one night, a client in the home emergency services sector reached out after their third-party supplier suffered a suspected cyber incident. Initially, we were placed on standby, but by 3am, we were fully activated. Within hours, we had three recovery sites up and running in Aston, Nottingham, and Manchester, complete with pre-configured desktop images and staff transport. Over the next four business days, we supported around 350 staff per day, ensuring service delivery never missed a beat. It was a real team effort and a great example of resilience in action.
What kind of initiatives is Wavenet working on that the community should know about?
We’re always looking for ways to strengthen data and cyber resilience. That means thinking not just about recovery, but about prevention too. Recently, we’ve expanded our partnerships with global data protection leaders like Rubrik, Veeam, and Commvault, to enhance the services we offer. These partnerships are helping our customers protect one of their most valuable assets, their data, in smarter, more proactive ways.
In addition, as part of our CyberGuard portfolio we offer comprehensive cyber resilience services including managed detection and response (MDR), incident response, consultancy and penetration testing which we're constantly evolving to stay one step ahead of threat actors.
Our multi-award-winning BCM planning software, Shadow-Planner, is going from strength to strength. We actively develop it with input from the business continuity practitioners who use it, with any new and improved functionality rolled out automatically to all users.
How can the BCI community connect with you?
We’d love to connect. BCI members can find us in the Corporate Partner Directory, join us at upcoming webinars and events, or reach out via LinkedIn. We’re also happy to have tailored conversations around work area recovery, data protection, business continuity management and software, or broader business continuity strategies, whatever’s most useful.
Is there anything else you’d like the BCI community to know?
Just that we’re here to help. Resilience isn’t something you tick off a list, it’s something you build and maintain over time. Whether you’re starting from scratch or looking to strengthen an existing approach, we’re here to support that journey in any way we can. Over the 30 odd years we’ve been in the industry, our business continuity services have evolved thanks to the work that we do day in, day out for our customers, a great many of whom are part of the BCI community. It’s working with these customers and understanding their requirements that has led to our flexible approach in service provision, so that we’re able to facilitate successful recoveries, create and deliver successful plans, provide robust backup and replication strategies and develop award-winning software.
